I have a colonoscopy scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. I have had 3 in the past, but the most recent was 5 years ago. I just read through the directions tonight and realized I have already messed up the prep! I was supposed to take miralax today which I did not do, and was not to have eaten vegetables and fruits with seeds, corn, or nuts, all of which I ate. My doctor told me not to follow one part of the prep due to breastfeeding, but I don't know which thing she told me not to take. It was either the miralax or the dolcolax I am supposed to take tomorrow afternoon. I am planning on calling their office first thing tomorrow, but does it sound like I will need to reschedule? Also, does anyone know how long the unpleasantness of the prep lasts after starting to drink the prep? I am kind of starting to freak out about this whole thing lol! All of my previous colonoscopies have sucked, but I have never had to worry about anyone else while prepping. This is the first time I will have a colonoscopy and have to take care of two small kiddos while prepping. My husband will be home, but my kiddos depend on me, and I can't disappear for an entire evening.

It does sound like you'll need to reschedule. That's not the end of the world. Next time you'll remember! Also, were you given a sheet of paper with the instructions? That came in handy when I had mine. Because it IS a lot of stuff to remember, especially taking medicines you may not be used to taking and how critical the timing is.
I had to take two pills (laxatives) two nights before and didn't experience anything that evening. The next morning it took a bit after taking the first liquid dose for it to start having an effect.
It's good your husband will be there. You'll be able to be there for the kiddies, but it's inevitable you'll need to excuse yourself when the time comes. My sessions didn't take too long each time, so that's at least something.

Thanks for the reply skyflyerjen! I haven't been able to get hold of the dr, but her nurse thinks it's okay to go ahead with the colonoscopy. The scope isn't scheduled till noon, so maybe that bought me a bit of leeway?

Hey, as long as you were up front about it and they said it's okay then I guess you're good to go!
Oh, also, the day of, expect to give a urine sample. I wasn't expecting that, but I had to prove I wasn't pregnant.
