FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ON PREDNISONE

Hello fellow Crohnsies!

This is my second expiriance on Prednisone and if you are on it or starting it or was on it and want to laugh read my symptoms tips and daily struggles on it.
-I am on Prednisone for 6 months it's been two or three weeks now and im taking 5 pills morning and 2 pills night,for a 35 kg girl these are massive doses.

-EXPECT: A MOONFACE!! PUFFY BALL OF ROUNDNESS WILL BE THE CURSE OF PREDNISONE BEWARE!I'm a skinny girl but prednisone made my face rounder than a ball lol

-EXPECT: HAIR GROWTH EVERYWHERE!! Armpits,leg hair,moustache,unibrow you name it,prepare your money for some razors

-EXPECT: ACNE!!! I'm a teen so having acne is really not new for me,but prednisone made it a nighmare.I had to add more protective lotions and skin care products to my daily wash routine...

-EXPECT : KNEE AND JOIN PAIN !! Yes you may get knee pain and pain in your joints,anckles and wrists.I got pain in my pelvis and spine as well :(

-EXPECT: A BELLY !! I got a belly :D . I wouldnt consider it developing from the fat that i've gained,maybe it's because of the appetite i got and since my belly has been always flat,now it just can't take all the food im putting into it and has became one giant ball hanging way past my boobs lol . I feel like it can explode any minute...

-EXPECT: APPETITE AND WEIGH GAIN!! I got quite the appetite and gained a kilogram.Being hungry all the time is something new for me and it definetly isnt pleasant sonsidering you have to keep an eye on your diet.

-EXPECT: MOOD SWINGS AND DEPRESSION!! Absolutely everyone on Prednisone has mood swings that come and go as they please.Being happy sad depressed mad anxious angry scared for no reason is a challenge to you emotional state of mind.

-EXPECT: INSOMNIA !! I got awful insomnia the first few days.I started feeling more moody during the days and couldn't sleep at night.I suggest going early to bed that helps regulate the sleep cylcle.I also expirienced sweaty sleeping with the feeeling of being cold.COLD CHILLS! Guess it's from this.I'm not taking any sleeping pills btw.

Well i think that this covers up my post for now.I put this in place to share my expiriance for now and i did it for fun and help as well.So don't take it seriously and i know some of the symptoms vary but i thought it would be fun to make a post like this.

Sounds about right. AND if you stay on it too long, or have too many rounds of it, you get diagnosed with Osteopenia (or worse) like I just did.

I've finally gotten off of it after many many rounds over the last several years. Finally Remicade and Methotrexate has made it so I can get off of it. Lots of weight to lose and hoping this moon face goes away. My insomnia also seems to be sticking around, I think it's just permanently messed up my sleeping. It helped keep me out of the hospital on many occasions (and without it I'd land in the hospital). But the best thing is to find something else that works!

Yumi, my daughter had facial hair growth that went away after stopping Prednisone!

Im soooo sorry i didn't reply to you sooner !! Don't worry the hairgrowth does go away!!!! It is caused by the hormone stuff that change while on pred.Just make sure you shave :D it will shed after some time and it will take like weeks or months but it will go away.Also about the pimples,some may stay....Getting acne in the first place is a pain because many of it stays there.Make sure you get good anti acne cream wash your face a couple times daily with hot water and soap and treat the pimples.You should be doing much better once off prednisone i hope you feel better soon ^^
