This is almost identical to what I just had done. I had extreme inflammation from my Crohns that started to perforate near the splenic flexure and my colon was so swollen not much was getting through. On 10/6 they did the resection cutting out 1/3 of my colon at the flexure and descending and created the temporary loop ostomy. I had the ostomy for 10 weeks and the ostomy closed on 12/18.
My resection healed well and my pre-op scope was clean they said the anastomasis looked great and wide open. I also had no issues where they closed my loop. I wasn't as worried about that section since I've never had disease in my small bowel. However my disease is already back just below the resection in the descending area left.
The first two weeks were hard post closure because my colon had been dormant long enough that stuff was shooting right through me. That stopped within those first 2 weeks. Now just dealing with a small flare. Although that sucks, I'm having less symptoms and pain than presurgery.
