I am on Remicade. I have been on it for almost 5 years now with ZERO problems. I get a migraine the day or two after an infusion, but that's it. Remicade literally saved my life. I have had fistulae, abscesses that have caused sepsis, and extremely severe Crohn's. I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and have been on Remicade the entire time, and also through my first pregnancy. My daughter is now 2 1/2 and is completely healthy and fine.
There is a slightly higher risk for cancer, but it is not that high. Often we hear things like (and I am making up these numbers) "it triples the risk of cancer" but if the risk is only 2% in healthy people, then it only goes up to 6% which is still extremely low.
I would say that being on Remicade is much safer than not being on Remicade and being in awful flares.
