Had my first Remicade infusion and Crohn's is still flaring. What did you do till it kicked in?

Had my first Remicade infusion yesterday. I stayed at the hospital for 9 hours. I didn't suffer from any reactions as they gave me Solu Cortef prior to the infusion. I slept all day today and am very tired.
The problem is definitely still my Crohn's. Last week, as I needed to postpone the infusion coz of urgent work, my GI put me on Fortecortin daily injections for 4 days. These could control my symptoms then. Now, I returned back to my normal medications such as entocort, imuran and pentasa and the normal symptoms of severe abdominal pain returned too. What did you use to take till Remicade kicked in?

I am glad you have no negative reactions, and I heard from buddy of mine is having same all-day-tiredness since he started taking remicade back in Jan 2015.

I would appricate if you could keep posting about your experience with Remicade.

I am diagnosed and confirmed last week with Crohn's, and I think my doctor is going to start Remicade soon . Scared to start honestly.

Sorry that your Crohn's had been confirmed. I was scared to death and expected every possible reaction. Even my GI was skeptical about my reaction. I think the very very slow infusion I had for 9 hours didn't allow any reaction to happen. The steroid iv injection I was given before the infusion helped a lot.

Prednisone. I had a long taper for about 6 months, then I was able to taper off and the Remicade was working fine. It's going to take more then one infusion I'm sure to get yours under control.

Jen 77, thank you. Yes, definitely, I know that it's still a long journey for Remicade to take before it kicks in but the Crohn's doesn't want to be tamed. I'm already on Entocort and can't expect to be taking pred again. Will see what my GI says next week when I see him.

First loading dose? Do you get another in 2 weeks? Entocort 3mg?
I had to load and then every 8 weeks. I could feel it wear off by week 7. moved to a 7 week schedule then 6. The fatigue only lasted about 36 hours for me. YMMV. But it worked!, for about a year then the side effects kicked in. for pain I used Tramadol, I'm still using the original RX now waiting for Entyvio in March if all goes well. currently on the generic Entocort.

minnietoty, Thanks for the concern. For some reason my GI is not recommending me to go with steroid iv injection, I got to check with him in my next visit.

Question Everything, yes, that was my first loading dose. Double checked with my GI and he said I'll have another dose after 2 weeks and then in week 6. The regular doses will start 8 weeks after.

Hopefully you'll start to get some relief after the loading doses are done. I know how it is to have the beast that doesn't want to be tamed though! Seems like it takes forever to get relief!
