Any luck getting an abscess to reabsorb?

I've dealt with abscesses a lot with my crohns and it seems like if they pop up in my groin area I can get them to reabsorb and go away but one on my tailbone has just returned and I'm hoping with all hope that it will reabsorb and not break through. Has anyone had luck with this?

Can't say that I have. I've actually been thrilled when they burst because it relieves all that pressure. I suffered for a week with an anal abscess. Spent most of the week in the bathtub. I think if I get another one I'd have it lanced a lot sooner then that. Why are you worried about them draining?

My Aunt had one on her tailbone. They called it a Pilonidal Cyst, I believe she had to have surgery on it because it kept coming back. She didn't have Crohn's though.

It is much better to have it burst through the outside than to burst on the inside and go septic. When they have it heal, are they packing it well so that it heals from the inside out? An abscess burst isn't always automatically a fistula.
