Hello. Newbie here. I started a job in Jan. to establish a maintenance program for a small biz with about 25 employs. This biz is a rock quarry and is very spread out. We have those nasty porta potties located around the place and one restroom in the office building. But at my shop there is no restroom just a porta potty. They only clean them once a month and are disgusting. Well about 45 days into my job I wound up in the hospital and found out I have Chrohn's. I have been back at work but have missed a bunch. I was to have an office set up, computer, service truck, desk, phone, etc. so I told my boss I wasn't going to come in until meds got my bowels under control because the smell is embarrassing and the only bathroom is right across from a young lady's office and right where customers come in to do there biz. I told him I wasn't going to do the porta potty thing because these people are worse than children and treat it as so. So I told them to get me the laptop and I would work from home and set up this program which is going to take a lot of time. While I have been off they have came to my home and got me to go out there and make repairs and I still order the parts and tell the guys what to do and how to fix stuff all while not getting paid.
This morning I called and asked them to tell me the status of my laptop. They said check your email. Nothing. Well the president texts me and said I re emailed u and pasted it here. He said due to absences it placed an undo burden on the company and they were going to terminate me and would possibly rehire me later after I got over this.
So my question is, since this is Texas and CD is a disability, can he do that to avoid spending money to install a toilet? I was not costing them anything being gone, I did a lot of work for free and all I required to come back to work was a toilet free of disease. The toilet in the office is about a 1/4 mile from my shop!
I just thought this was not very cool to fire someone when they were I'll and very susceptible to undo stress.
I know if your in a wheel chair they have to bend over backwards for you. All I needed was a toilet that is in a building about 5,000 sq/ft. We are open to the public and the only toilet there is for the two women that work there. There's no dignity with this disease. So if you have the answers please respond or if you know someone who does please tell me how to contact them. I hope I didn't post something wrong. If I did please excuse my first time and tell me and I will correct that action.
I just felt I could have worked from home setting up this program and staying close to my commode until the symptoms passed.
I apologize for all the misspelling
