Hoping some of you all will have some personal experience I can benefit from.
While I've stopped keeping very good track of things, my recollection was that I was last able to pass stool Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon. I've taken Miralax daily since Sunday without any response. The last two days I've been painfully nauseated. I've been unable to drive, and yesterday ended up vomiting as a passenger. I've had no success with using zofran to control the nausea.
about seven years ago I had illeus and had to be hospitalized for three days before things got back and working again. My biggest symptom was paralyzing nausea. At the same time, I literally saw my GI doc last Tuesday and said things sounded fine when he listened to my GI tract and palpated my abdomen. I don't think it is super likely that this is what is going on, but I don't want to disregard it as a possibility and end up in a medical emergency situation. Nobody looks good projectile vomiting.
I'm planning to focus on drinking electrolyte supplemented drinks and will probably be trying to eat as little as possible and as low residue as possible until the nausea abates. Does anybody have any experience that can help? I'm reluctant to take a laxative because my understanding is that if peristalsis stops, stimulating it will likely only lead my intestines to get angrier and would probably cause some unhappy cramping.
Thanks for any advice or personal experiences you share!
