getting on depo shot while have crohns?

I've been doing depo as my birth control for a few years now. It doesn't affect my Crohn's at all. I don't have any side effects, really, other than a bit of a decreased sex drive (bummer for my husband), but nothing else that I've noticed.

I started it after my first was born and I put on 65 lbs during that pregnancy, so I lost weight after being on it, but that was from having the baby. I was breastfeeding, which makes you less likely to have periods. Mine didn't come back until a couple of months after I stopped it to try for my second kid.

I was on it when I first was experiencing Crohns onset. I stopped getting a period. One shot a month. And it didn't affect my Crohns. Didn't notice any change in weight or any other side effects or symptoms!

I was on it for years didn't have problems for a few years. After a few years, I developed cystic acne and weight gain, so I had to get off. It definitely reduced cramps, eliminated periods, and hormonal mood swings. It was great while I was on it.

I got the depo shot when I was 17. It made me bleed for the whole year! It was awful, I became quite anemic. Thankfully that was right before my Crohn's set in, otherwise the anemia would have been even worse on me. I began to wonder if that's how you never got pregnant, because you had your period 24/7.

My doctor said that it doesn't happen to everyone obviously (a lot of people stop having periods, or only light ones). But that it can happen. Unfortunately I usually do get the rare stuff. lol
