First of all, Congrats on the pregnancy, this is so exciting.
Can you please post what meds/treatments you are currently doing as its hard for me to keep track of all of my healingwell buddies?
the best thing for you and your baby is to be in remission. all of the IBD meds aside for methotrexate and thiolimide are safe in pregnancy.
I have heard (but dont know the source) that 1/3 flare, 1/3 stay the same and 1/3 go into remission from pregnancy. remember that you will generally find the most severe stories online, those who are doing well dont usually go online and post as much
you need to see an OB who has experience with dealing with IBD patients. often big IBD centers at universities will have OBs who they work with. ask your GI for a recommendation.
another thing is trying to gain that weight or at least to maintain it.
are there fooods you dont eat, or that irritate you?
its best to eat a high calorie diet to up your weight (i think you posted about this before)
sometimes it can be hard to "eat" so many calories and drinking them (think shakes and juice) can be easier on your gut.
the fructose in juice bothers some but adding fruit juice to your water or even completely swapping could add several hundred calories a day. while this provides little nutritional benefit, it can help you gain the weight you want to gain.
milkshakes, smoothies and protien shakes are great
using raw but PASTEURIZED eggs in shakes adds extra protien and nutrients, it doesnt add taste, just makes it fluffier
ice cream/yogurt/whole milk/protien powder/nut butters can be used in various combinations to provide highly caloric drinks...
for some reason I find salmon easy on my gut even when not doing so well and it has quite a bit of calories.
some also do well with fast food like burgers, pizza etc... those dont have much fiber and maybe thats why
good luck!
