Seriously? Prednisone no longer working for Crohn's flare up?

I've been back on 35mg of Prednisone since this past Thursday as well as a double dose of Lialda (up to 2.4mg from 1.2), and I'm still going. The two previous times I've taken Prednisone I started feeling better within hours. Is it possible my flare was misdiagnosed? I was just in Hawaii a little over a week ago and I noticed my symptoms started up the day before I left. Is it possible something just didn't agree with me while I was there?

35 mg isn't a super high dose if it's a bad flare. Especially since you're on Lialda as a maintenance med, which is less effective than a placebo for Crohn's. I've gone as high as 80 mg of pred for bad flares. When on Lialda, I was on 40 mg for 10 months and was still having D about 10 times per day. It is possible it's misdiagnosed, but it is also extremely likely that you need a higher dose of pred and a stronger maintenance med.

What do you mean by a flare? If it is diarrhea,then maybe you need stool cultures to rule out infections.

Just diarrhea, only had a little blood over two days. The frequency seems to have gone down to anywhere from just two times a day to five or six times a day, but I'm also wondering if I have some kind of infection and not a flare.
