I'm failing one medicine after the other. Rectum is not responding

I'm currently on Remicade, Imuran, colifoam enema and cortiment which was added 2 weeks ago. My TI is responding so it can't be said that Remicade is not working. However, my rectum resists any treatment. Last week, I texted my GI complaining of non-stop watery diarrhea. He recommended I take steroid injections for 3 days and see how things went on. The injections and Imodium could control the symptoms then. But here again I have this dull abdominal pain, watery diarrhea, urgency and above all the unbearable rectal spasm.

I have an appointment with my GI today but don't really know what other options to discuss. Cortiment has already giving me its goodies of humped back and weight gain. I haven't seen any improvement yet since only 2 weeks have passed since I have started it.

What other options are there? I think I've exhausted everything and I don't think I'm ready for any surgeries yet. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about the issues your facing.

But im curious as to how you know the issue is the rectum?
Im actually curious can you tell from your symptoms?

The only way i can tell is if there's bright red blood, its the rectum. If loose or watery stools more up the GI.

At least it's a good sign that you're getting some results with Remicade. If you're TI is improving, I might suspect an infection or C-diff or related. I think you should have some blood work for sure. Any chance of it being spastic colon?

I'm under a lot of stress these days. I explained it to my GI and asked for an antidepressant. He was for it as he was concerned about my uncontrollable watery diarrhea. Hope the antidepressant can put things under control.

I hope it helps! have you thought about switching from remicade to something else? how is work/ studies going? Im sorry you have to deal with so much stress!

Lab, thank you so much.
I'm approaching the last step of the PhD journey and of course, involuntarily, I'm freaking out. When I told my GI, he said this makes sense as he had thought I failed everything. He couldn't do anything more than prescribing Xanax upon my request. So, I think discussion of any change of treatment should be postponed at the time being. We are waiting for Cortiment to kick in.
