Daughter has gained 40lbs + since starting Remicade last November

My daughter has had Crohn's since March 2016. She had tried other medicines (steroids -not been on them since last October). Remicade is the first TNF/infusion - Does anyone else have the following side effects since taking Remicade? Along with the weight gain, she has a Rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, mood swings, issues with periods..to name a few?

My son (21) has been on remicade for almost two years and he has had no side effects. I am sorry to hear your daughter's reaction. Have you asked the GI about it? Can she try another biological?

Hi Millie, I was on Remicade for 3 1/2 yrs & the only side effect I had was on the 3rd infusion I had a reaction resulting in some chest pain & elevated blood pressure. The infusion was stopped, I was given IV Benadryl & Soluable Medrol. They waited a little bit & slowed down the infusion rate & finished with no issues. From then on I was given the above premeds. As for weight gain, no it was not an issue for me.

I think your daughter should call her dr & speak with his nurse & the nurse can relay the info to the dr. I hope this gets resolved.
