Effective Healing from Surgery - Options?

What kind of foods, drinks, and/or supplements help reduce scar tissue formation in the gut area? I understand that inflammation from CD can cause scar tissue, but my understanding is that healing forms scar tissue too.

There are foods that seem to contribute more toward inflammation like red meat and foods that have anti-inflammatory properties like garlic and turmeric but, honestly, I don't think any food is going to reduce or prevent scar tissue at your surgery site. I had my surgery in 2014 and I'm still doing well....I guess only time will tell. Don't smoke cigarettes and try to eat a reasonably healthy diet and take your maintenance medication if you doc thinks you need them, and try not to stress about it....that can't help!

My son had illeo cecal surgery last year and he had some scarring from the surgery (anastomotic fibrosis). He dreaded the thought of having to undergo more surgery to "clean it out" but was able to successfully have balloon dilation which seemed to solve the issue. His surgeon and GI doctor told him that having scarring from surgery is very common but that often it can be treated with dilation. My son is on remicade, probiotics, methotrexate, folic acid and Vitamin B12 and so far - so good! He just became a vegan because he was told (thinks?) that will help him maintain remission. I hope you heal well with lasting complications!
