So just came back from my GI after my colonoscopy with the bad news that I’ve been diagnosed with Chrons. However, he said that in my colonoscopy I have no signs of active disease, so he doesn’t recommend another course of action until I start experiencing symptoms. The only reason I went in was because I was diagnosed with UC almost 10 years ago, and figured I’d start getting he regular colonoscopies. I don’t recall having chrons like symptoms in those years, so this cane as a shock to me. I’m also concerned that I wasn’t put on a maintenance dose of anything, as I know is conning practice. He also called my chrome very mild. Should I be looking for a second opinion?

Yes, I think you need to look for a second opinion. Some people can have zero symptoms and yet have awful inflammation inside. I wonder why he said Crohn's instead of UC (not that it makes a huge difference sometimes). But Crohn's goes through the entire digestive tract, and a colonscopy doesn't even get very far into your large intestine, so I'd look for a second opinion.

I would obtain copies of my records including the biopsy report & get a 2nd opinion. It is possible to have the condition to be changed, however, I would leave that up to the 2nd opinion to rule on. Is it possible you didn't have UC to begin with, who knows.

I had both a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. Terminal ileum showed signs of chronic inflammation ( cellular changes, I guess? ) but biopsies showed no signs of active inflammation in either the ileum or colon, so he told me I was in remission. I’ve also never had any symptoms of chrons over the past 10 years since my UC diagnosis, so I’m just a little confused.

I actually had the opposite where I have no signs of active Crohn's but the biopsies came back positive/consistent....I have no side effects other than a chronic abscess/fistula...
