Afternoon folks :p
Had a busy day yesterday. Got up early to take my car into the garage for a service - I had booked it because I was worried about
my car's wobbliness upon starting. Needless to say it started perfectly yesterday. The garage couldn't find anything seriously wrong, but the car did feel better after the service so I think it was worth it. It's a 17-year-old car and it's getting old and cranky like me.
I must have walked miles yesterday. First I walked from the garage to the local high street, which is a good 20-minute walk, even done briskly. I got one coffee (really good - Waitrose cafe, you need to up your coffee game, seriously) and then spent the next two hours walking up and down the high street and wandering in and out of shops because I was too stingy to buy any more coffees after that
Also went into the nearby memorial garden, where I saw snowdrops. Lovely place, very peaceful, with a pond and a fountain and one pair of ducks with the place to themselves. But it was bitter cold so after about
20 minutes I left.
In the evening I went to TGI Fridays with three people: the guy I went to the cinema with last weekend, his friend, and a girl from the day hospital. The guy's friend gave us a lift in his car. At first I was grateful to get out of driving but started having second thoughts when we were haring along one dark, winding country lane after another, in a car that was an even bigger, shakier rust bucket than mine. I deffo was quite glad to get to the restaurant in one piece.
At the restaurant we went for the endless starters deal for £13.99. I did feel sorry for the girl though. She has a rare hereditary condition where she can't eat protein, so she has to avoid meat and dairy. It obviously bothered her a great deal and I can't say I blame her. I think it's this which she has:
www.stlouischildrens.org/diseases-conditions/tyrosinemia - she did tell us the name but I didn't catch it completely. Also think she said it was type 3 but not 100% sure... :/
She apparently sees a dietitian every 6 months, but I think she needs more help and support with her diet. It was quite sad really. She wanted to share an ice cream sundae with me (I wanted one too, if I'm honest), and I had to remind her a few times she's not meant to eat ice-cream. So yeah, I felt a little guilty tucking into chicken wings and cheesy fries. I knew I would pay a price later, and I did, but at least I have a choice: she doesn't even have that. I skipped the ice cream sundae though - made do with a full-sugar Coke for 'dessert'.
Anyway, I had a nice time. Was absolutely shattered when I got home though; I was falling asleep on the sofa. I know that's a normal thing for most people at 11pm, but sadly it's not a normal thing for me. Went to bed early and slept but my stomach was in a state this morning; not pain so much, as just nausea and feeling bilious. Gonna take it very easy today.
@lamb - Dirt therapy is a good descript
ion. It's why I don't normally wear gloves when gardening - I quite like getting my hands stuck in the mud, literally <_<
@straydog - Yeah, I take the duloxetine in the morning always. Might vary by an hour or two but not hours and hours.
I'm sorry about
your sister: such people are exhausting to be around. My dad's a bit like that - always finding a molehill to make a mountain out of. You'd think people would become more chill as they get older, but they rarely seem to.
Stupid question, but do you actually get edible bananas from the banana trees? Your garden sounds very tropical - it wouldn't be possible to have a garden like that in the UK. Way too cold and overcast.
Meant to have seen my support worker yesterday but had to cancel cos of the car service. Seeing her next Thursday instead.
I don't hear much about
Harry and Meghan thank god. I can't imagine what there is left to say about
them - the interest in them is absolutely baffling to me.
@Poppie - I'm lazy so I'd want a small garden, 'cos I would probably neglect a big garden to be honest. But I know what you mean about
growing veggies. If I could eat veg in abundance I would be interested in planting them too :-/
