What biological for crohns?

Just wondering if there is another biologic I can try. What all is approved in US for crohns

You'll need to post more information before anyone can give you any recommendations. What meds are you taking or have taken for maintenance? Have you used any anti-TNF's?

There are new anti-TNF's coming to market all the time. Personally, I still believe that Remicade is the state of the art treatment for Crohn's. The newest that are in use now are Entyvio and Stelera. I can't recommend anything, but based on the reading I've done, Stelera seems to be getting really good reviews, with Entyvio quite less well received. I believe both are available in the U.S. currently.

I have taken remicade and shortly after starting had surgery so they stopped it. Then I stared humira with 6 great years of remission and that stopped so went on cimzia for a year with no luck and then they tried entyvio with a reaction we stopped it. So onto stelara and I’ve been on it for a year and at first it worked well. But as of lately I have had flares. And now with this dose 1 week later had headache sore throat and feel like someone is sitting on my chest. No fever and anxiety through the roof. Fatigue is crazy and with a business to run can’t be bed ridden but don’t know how to tell if this chest and throat stuff is related to stelara. I do know every time I took shot I would have bad panic for 2 or 3 weeks. Sometimes it would be delayed and not hit for a couple weeks. Just wondering if Simponi or envrel is approved in us for crohns

Not sure if you can blame your headache, sore throat etc on Stelera. The flu is really virulent this year, and there's a ton of viruses that anyone can pick up randomly. I would stick with Stelera for awhile longer, and keep the schedule regular. I believe Simponi is approved for Crohns', but not sure about Enbrel. I think Enbrel is being used for arthritis only right now.

You could go back to Remicade since you only started it briefly...

I have been on Remicade for two years with great results, three months ago I got a fungal infection, yeast infection and a herpes outbreak, which I had not had in 45 years. Then a UTI, one week after I stopped the antibiotics I developed an itchy rash and still have itching since Dec 3rd. Is this the antibiotic or have I developed antibodies to Remicade. The Prometheus blood test is $2500 and Medicare will not cover it. Anyone have any ideas.

Remicade worked very well for me for 7 years. Humera did not work at all. I am currently trying entivio and I am doing very well.

Strongmind- have you tried taking Benadryl? Some people get rashes after the infusion so they have to take Benadryl and then they’re fine. But remicaide does increase risk for infection which explains your problems.
Barbz- humira didn’t work for me, I beleive remicaide is the best biologic for Crohn’s. I never got to try entyvio but some people have luck with it also

I've personally had a lot of success with humira. It kept me in remission for about 4 years. I'm hoping to continue on it to control my stricture I've developed. Everyone's body's will respond to meds differently, what may work for me may not work for you. Do your research, consult with your GI and good luck! Sadly it comes down to trial and error.
