Hi folks. The good news is that I've had no more accidents since. The bad news is everything else in my life >_>.
I had an emotional meltdown on Wednesday and yesterday I was wiped out as a result. Feel a little bit more 'normal' today. I've decided to ask my IBD nurse for the results of the pelvic MRI scan (which was done months ago!) and faecal calprotectin test. The last FC test was only done about 3 weeks ago. That should give me more idea if the Crohn's is flaring or not.
Reading some of your stories I think I have been very lucky with accidents! Nearly all of them have been minor ones and have taken place at home. I did have one horrible accident a few years ago though. My parents had had a dinner party and so I ate more food than usual, including a delicious but lethal middle eastern vegetable dish. I knew I would suffer but I was at home, so it would be all right. Then my dad (after a major row, I might add...) started suffering from breathlessness, so we called an ambulance and went to hospital. Well, you know what it's like: you're waiting hours before you even get seen. My mum was drunk and fell asleep, whilst I was feeling increasingly ill and feverish from the meal. My dad was the only perky one amongst us. I kept on having urges to go but each time I went to the toilet my stomach heaved and cramped but I couldn't pass anything.
Eventually I decided to go to the cash machine across the road in hopes that fresh air would make me feel slightly better. Outside the hospital I had the urge from hell, the urge to end all urges. I ran; I was just a few metres away from the hospital entrance and I knew there were toilets right inside the entrance. But I just couldn't make it; I had an even worse urge, squatted and emptied what felt like the entire contents of a 3-course meal inside my underwear. I waddled over to the toilets and spent about half an hour rinsing my underwear, my trousers, my socks, the toilet and the floor. I had no spare clothes so I had to put back on my wet clothes. I'm proud to say, though, that I left the cubicle spotless - but with a smell that would have probably knocked out stone cold the first unlucky person to enter the cubicle after me.
@CM - It was only two days ago and I've already forgotten what I ate that day! I don't think it was anything out of the ordinary though. I do have IBS in a way that I didn't used to (even with Crohn's), but I tend to get gas and cramping rather than diarrhoea with it. Admittedly it's sometimes really hard to tell though, especially as I never have firm stools anymore due to not having a colon.
