I'm not sure what he found, but it must have been something. He initially suspected UC, but the biopsies indicated Crohn's. I'm afraid I didn't ask for details. I don't know if he found anything in the ileum, though again, I didn't ask--that's not a question I would
know to ask.
He started me on the Pentasa immediately after the scope. I'll find out about
the inflammation after the blood tests are finished. All I can tell you is that the symptoms I had before I started on the Pentasa, mild as they were, have gone away. If it's not clearing up the inflammation, then we're going to try the Imuran. Part of the tests they did today was a Prometheus test, so I guess that's to check if I can tolerate Imuran.
I'm very much in the dark about
all this...I'm afraid the Crohn's diagnosis caught me completely by surprise, as everything until today was pointing towards UC. That's what the initial diagnosis was after the colonoscopy.
Great. Now I'm feeling overwhelmed and panicky. Probably should've mentioned that I suffer from general anxiety disorder too...
