Hi Beave,
My Crohn's dx is based on the fact that I had a horrible, non-healing fissure, a positive inflammation test from whatever test they do at Prometheus Labs, and some inflammation in my terminal illeum. I've never had any other reason to get fissures (not diarhea or constipation), so I think that added to the "inflammation from underlying condition" story. Believe me, I fought for a year with my doctor (well, argued) about my dx since I don't have typical symptoms.
By flare, I mean that back in September I had a new medial fissure break out for no reason, and it wouldn't go away with conservative measures. I had a colonoscopy and it revealed that I had more than one. Topical treatment is not healing it and this is 4 months now. Surgery seems like a bad idea and since I was able to instantly heal with Remicade before, it seems like medication is the better answer. But now I'm stuck wondering which one? We discussed Humira before my trough test, but now that seems pointless, unless I misunderstand. Thanks for your reply.
