I have been absent from this forum for some time and I was trying to cope with life hurdles and with my disease. I tapered budesonide and went down to 6mg. However, since last week, I woke up with a severe pain 1/4 of an inch on the left side of my anus. It is where my fistula is located. I thought at the beginning that it could be a fissure and applied seudo creme (zinc oxide and other components). It used to soothe the pain at the beginning but lately whenever I apply it, it is burning like hell. I jumped to the other conclusion that it could be either an abscess or a fistula. My lower right quadrant is also flaring up so I saw my GI yesterday. He ordered an MRI fistula. I haven't been scheduled for it yet. What can I do until then? I want to alleviate this (fistula?) pain.

It sounds more like an abscess than a fistula. Is there any drainage? An external abscess can be pretty easily treated, so that would be the better of the two. Hopefully you can get the imaging done asap.

73monte, thank you. There's a little of dark yellow discharge. I don't think it's a new fistula. I think it's my old fistula acting up.

Hello
Sorry to hear that.
Wouldn’t the burning suggest that there is a cut or similar? I assume the cream doesn’t burn normally but it might on raw tissue?
How about
vaseline before BMs?

Newmommy26, thank you. That sounds a great idea. I'll give it a try.
