Pain is back

hi everybody. Its been quite some time since ive posted on here. For the past several days ive been having a lot of really bad pain in my lower abdomen...mostly lower left. It hurts all the time. I get nauseous when i eat and it hurts worse. I also seem to be extremely tired all of the time. However i cant sleep due to pain. Twice now i have passed a significant amout of bright red blood when i poop. Sorry tmi. Once i passed bloody mucas when i passed gas. Any ideas of what is going on? Oh and from time to time i will get this extreme sharp burning pain inside of my bum that lasts a minute or two. I have an appt with gi in november. Should i just go to the er.

Agree, you really need to get in right away. If things keep getting worse, then the ER is likely your only recourse. Could be active inflammation, or a blockage starting. Stricturing might be the issue. The bright red blood isn't good, as that would indicate very fressh bleeding somewhere. What's your current med situation? Hope you get things under control soon. Well i have now landed myself in the ER. The pain has gotten worse. And earlier i felt sudden urgency to poop. I run to bathroom and nothing would come out. Except for a little gas. I also feel sick. Like im achy all over. I get chills then im hot but i have no fever.

Bucko, sorry to read that you are having issues & ended up at the hospital. At least now you know what is going on & can get the appropriate treatment needed.

I hope all goes well with your cultures and and scope. I wonder if you have C Diff? I had it and these were the symptoms I had, it was miserable, but I healed pretty quickly. Whatever is going on I hope you find answers and relief.

Scope just showed inflammation and congestion in the decending and diverse colon. I see gi on oct 15. Its the same gi drbi saw in hospital. I went home on friday. Should know something this week about blood cultures

They have me on prednisone and cyprofloxin for now. It hurts everytime i eat anything. I literally have not slept in over 24hrs. Also i managed to get the crud virus from the hospital.

Bucko, is this bum pain internal or external? You mentioned using hemorrhoid creams, do you have a history of hemmies?

Why did ER give you a script of Cipro? Did they see something on your scope to warrant Cipro, maybe an abscess? I do hope that you took a probiotic while on the Cipro. It not only destroys the bad flora but the good flora needed in the gut. Even though you should be finished with the Cipro, I would be on one to help out. My drs always have me buy OTC Floraster when on an antibiotic.

It stinks having to wait so long to be seen. I know where I live it's difficult to be seen by a different gi. Many of them here work under an entity & they will not allow a patient to switch to one in the group. It's ridiculous.

I don't know if ER will be of any help or not. Only you know what your limits are. Are you still on prednisone? Do you think your primary care dr can be of any assistance?

I would call my GP now & ask if you can be seen as an emergency appt. today. The trouble with going to an ER unless a person needs to be admitted, treated with IV fluids or it's a life threatening condition, I just don't know that they will do anything for you. I am afraid you will get the usual, go see your dr. You may want to try Epson Salts warm water soaks. As I said, you know your limits better than anyone.

Apparently the gi i saw in hospital conacted the clinic i use to go to. They have now agreed to see me. I have an appt next week on Thursday at 330

So glad to hear this, at least that is better than a month from now. For now keep an eye on things.

Sounds like an abscess. It needs to be surgically drained.
