what to pack for post- mucosal flap advancement surgery recovery period?

If your procedure is anything like mine, you will be sent home the same day. Crazy I know. I actually worked from home after about a week. Unfortunately, my procedure was botched (don't freak out). I had so much rectal inflammation that the stitches tore through the tissue causing an infection. Within a couple of weeks I was back to the hospital to drain the abcess and close up the mess. I blame the surgeon, didn't like him from the beginning but was who I was referred to.

Sorry, didn't mean to go off. After the abcess issue, I recovered pretty quickly. Stock up on what you like to eat and do (such as books). Oh and some panty liners might come in handy for any drainage. They told me to use gauze but I found panty liners to be better and more comfortable. I can't remember if I used a sitz bath or not, you might want to ask about it to relieve soreness.

It's been a few years since I had the procedure (eventually had success with gracilis flap procedure), but you'll want lots of gauze (try to find larger squares that aren't too rough). I live in the States but I used to buy cases via Amazon (much cheaper than buying at pharmacy). Hopefully you have a tub, as I did lots of warm water soaks (just water, no salts) and definitely clothes that are comfy. You may also be sore, so think about your sleeping situation and how to make that the most comfortable (perhaps a pillow between knees if you side sleep, etc.).
