How formed is your stool?

What medication are you on and how formed is your stool?

All my bloods are showing that I'm fine, going in for a colonoscopy on the 26 of November for my 2 year check up but my stool is hardly formed.

This is the only symptom I am having that and anixety again. sad

Did your tests reveal good news?

My poo is either the consistency of oatmeal or pudding. I'm currently on Stelara, but am only a few months in. Guess I should also say my Crohns is moderate/severe.

I've only been in remission once or twice. I believe my poo was formed then, but still somewhat soft.

The only time I remember my stool being both formed AND firm was after I had a FMT to cure a lingering bout w/cdiff.

I'm happy to say there was no disease activity in rectum or colon, Doctors words "if I didn't know you, I couldn't even tell you have Crohn's" but that doesn't change the fact I struggle with constipation and loose stools. Some days it's fine other days I notice it's hard to get out and when it does it's loose. So he wanted to do a pill cam to check the small bowel as we've never had a pill cam before and just to make sure there is nothing going on in the small bowel, my Crohn's has always been confined to colon and rectum (Crohn's/colitis) which I agreed, done that last week just waiting for results as he said it could take 2 weeks. Maybe I don't have enough fibre I've figured, I know I lack that so maybe if I add more fibre it will help but when I eat lots of veges it messes me up.

Correct me if I am wrong. I am under the impression that what matters is not how formed your stool is. It is the number of very loose stools you have in a week. That's called diarrhea, which can deprive vitally important nutrients from your body. For me, I probably have 2 or 3 very loose stools in a week. The rest is constipation. I am more worried about constipation than diarrhea.

If your pill cam comes back good, do you think you might have IBS?

I think a lot of CD & UC people get anxiety, some worse off than others. Learning how to deal with anxiety is a must & learning not to try to micromanage the disease. Micromanaging leads to more anxiety.

A few days of loose stools could very well be IBS. I know a lot of people refuse to think the can have IBS too. If a person is flaring they are not going to have a couple of days of loose stools/constipation.

@Paul, try to get your constipation under better control, you don't want to start getting fissures from it. Look at your diet, drink lots of water. If that doesn't help look into a stool softner, not a laxative.
