How many of you either are or have been pregnant during a flare?? Is it possible to get pregnant during a flare as far as your body being able to handle the pregnancy along with CD?? I had my daughter 4 years ago while in remission, but I have been fighting an 8 going on 9 months flare but I've got my maternal instincts, needs, and wants kicking in right now. Anyone take Humira while pregnant??

All I can say is what the doctors have told me. How you feel when you get preg. is how you will feel the whole time (most likely). So if you feel like crap now, it will probably continue. If you feel good when you get preg you will probably feel good the whole time. I am struggling with the decision to have another child. I have yet to feel better for any long period of time and I have had reactions to each med they have given me. I also worry that I won't have the energy to take care of another child... or if I get really sick what will I do? For now I just pray that I will find the answer for me. I hope that you can begin to feel better and that you can have a wonderful pregnancy and a beautiful baby. Good Luck.

I became pregnant, rather unexpectedly during a flare (my daughter is 14 months old and healthy). I was having a really rough go with RFs, rectal bleeding and stomach pains and constant BMs. The first 3 months were tough and I felt really crappy but then everything just stopped. I honestly hadn't felt that good in years. The rest of the pregnancy went smoothly with no problems. The downside was, as soon as I had her, the flare up started again and then some! My doctor said that the rise in hormones during pregnancy can put you into a sort of remission but then after you give birth the drastic drop in hormones can throw you back into the flare again. I am still in the middle of the same flare 14 months later but I have a beautiful daughter. Like everything else, each person is different so you never know. GOOD LUCK!
(I was on Pentasa, Pred and Imuran at the time I got pregnant, I chose to discontinue my meds for the duration of my pregnancy)

I got pregnant while flaring, I became pregnanty easily and had a healthy pregnancy considering, a big baby, 8lbs 3oz, and my CD behaved not too bad during the pregnancy but I was still flaring, before, during and after.

I wasn't flaring during my first pregnancy. I just found out I'm pg with #2 and I'm not flaring now either, so I can't help you with those questions.
I am on Humira now though and will stay on it throughout my pregnancy per the advice of my GI.

I flared half way through my second pregnancy. I remember taking my 9 month old daughter to the grocery store and having to stop the shopping at some point because the cramping and cold sweats, weak legs would get so bad, I thought I'd faint and poop my pants right there in the aisle. So I would take my daughter to the bathroom with me, sit her in the corner with her toys, and lie down on the floor for 20 minutes or so until my legs could carry me again. I never seemed to be able to get through the whole grocery list. Then I seriously began loosing weight instead of gaining....lost 20 lbs during my last trimester. My small town doctor refused to put me on anything....the good news is that through all this, the baby did just fine. She made her appearance into the world at a whopping 8lbs....big fat cheeks, and healthy as can be.
From what I've read in these posts regarding pregnant moms and crohns...is that the outcome always seems to be o.k. Babies make it through with flying colors as far as I can tell from other posts.
Good luck
Mary.

Thanks for your all great detailed replies.
Beth: Please keep us posted as to how your pregnancy goes since you will continue the Humira.
