I had a CT scan of my abdominal area about
a week ago and the doctor's office said it was negative. He was actually looking for signs of Diverticulitis. Will a CT detect CD or UC?
Thank you!

Sometimes CT scans can pick up evidence of Crohn's disease, but often times they don't. So it depends - it depends on the type of CT scans done, and it depends on the type of Crohn's you have. CT scans can often pick up signs of strictures or fistulas, but if there is just mild inflammation or aphthous ulcers, they might get missed in a CT scan.

It can be seen, but not always. It was a CT scan that led to my GI referral. You would think that the severe bleeding and D might have done it, but no....anyway.... You really need to have a colonoscopy done to know for sure. :)

When I first got sick they did a CT scan. They saw inflammation and said "possible crohns". But it took another 6 months to diagnois.
Hope you get some answers soon.
