I had my regular CBC and ferritin levels checked at Remicade infusion recently and the Total Proteins came back slightly elevated (4 weeks ago) so my doc ordered Protein Serum to see which protein was the culprit. The Gamma Globulin came back high 2.3 g/dL. The doctor now wants me to go see a hemotologist. He believes that this is a benign monoclonal gammopathy but wants to make sure. The words "myeloma and lymphoma" keep popping up with searches and quite frankly I am scared to death. My luck with Crohn's for the last 14 years hasn't been the best. IF there is a possible side effect I am usually the one gal that gets it. UGH.
I have been on Remicade for about 4 years now and the last 4 infusions have given little or no relief. Shingles and small infections seem to rear their ugly head recently and I am so tired. I can't even get out to go to the store. My husband thankfully has been so helpful.
My question is, Has anyone gotten a high result on their Gamma Globulin rate and been told they have Monoclonal Gammopathy?
Could it possible that inflammation will cause a high result with this particular protein? I have also wondered if I haven't developed another little autoimmune disease to hang out with my Crohns...hoping it isn't Lupus...
