advice please.. humira, anal skin tags?

ive had crohns for about 2 years now and its been for the most part under control lately with the humira pen.. which is good because i am away at my 2nd year of college and my doctor is 4 hours away.

ive noticed lately that theres kind of a small flap of skin around my butt hole and ive never had anything like it. it doesnt hurt or itch or anything its just weird..

i tried to look it up tonight and i'm pretty sure its an anal skin tag, or something. has anyone ever had this or heard of it or anything? in all the crohns books ive read i have never heard of it and my doctor has never mentioned it, is it common in crohns?

what will happen if i dont do anything about it? like i mentioned its extremely inconvenient for me to miss classes to see my doctor. there are doctors on campus here but im not sure they have any expirence with crohn's. would it be bad for me to wait till december?

If this is something that has cropped up recently, it's worth mentioning to your doctor.  I believe it's a sign of active inflammation.  Skin tags aren't uncommon with Crohn's.  There's not much you can do about them.  Most doctors will refuse to remove them because they won't heal properly.  If it gets sore or itchy try sitz baths.  I use Calmoseptine and that helps with the irritation.  It's an over the counter cream, but you'll probably need to have your pharmacist order it.  Most places don't stock it routinely.

You should definitely mention it to your doctor, give him a call, just to let him know. I have one, and it's really not a huge problem. It does itch, and get inflammed sometimes, but if it gets too bad, I use diaper rash cream, and that seems to do the trick.

Infact skin tags are common with crohns, it's referred to as perianal crohns skin tags...here's a link...

Don't get them cut off while they are in a flar (large and hard), go see your doc.

i've got a fairly large skin tag myself, it appeared at the same time as my initial symptoms and never left, though it has changed shape.. which imo is both wierd and cool at the same time. but yeah, when i get a flare-up, it gets all inflamed and makes it extremely painful to walk around and even sit (of course, the fissures dont help either, but yeah), but when im doing fine it just makes it a little tricky when wiping. nothing to worry about, though like the other said, its worth mentioning.

I have them, one in particular is very large. It's embarrasing, sometimes painful and I hate it. My doc won't remove it for the fact it won't heal properly. Everytime I go to the bathroom, it's another reminder of this darn Chrohn's disease.

I dont have chrones, i actually have UC but i noticed what i thougth was a skin tag a few weeks ago. However it is not locatd that closely to my hole. (sorry to be direct) it is actually a little further down. i am actually going to the doctor tomorrow so i was going to bring it up. is it normal to have these furher down?

Generally as far as I know they are located around the actual anus and not typically in the crack anywhere...these are only rleated to crohns, NOT UC, same with abcesses and fistulas...I'm curious what your doc finds it to be.

I went for my remi infusion and the doc was not in today so i did not get to bring this up. i have not developed one right on the outside of the anus. UGHH it does not hurt or anything it is just there. The other one that was slightly to the left of this one is going down in size. I am going to call the doc tomorrow. Not sure waht is going on. i do not have any of the symptoms for hemroids.
