Prednisone and memory problems.

Just wondering if anyone else has had any memory problems while on Prednisone. It seems like I cant consentrate or remember anything.It feel like I dont want to remember anything and just feel like a slug.

Are you taking any meds for Cholesterol those are know to cause memory loss.

 Right there with you. I just got off the pred. Usually worst when it's time to take my pentasa or time to go to bed. Forgot my son's birth month the other day. I try not to be driving during this time of day.

Do you take methotrexate? That has been linked to memory issues. I understand the scary feeling. I'm 31 and I'm not kidding forget if I've washed my hair in the shower sometimes. If I think about it I can remember, but that's ridiculous. I'm now off of MTX, so I'm hoping this improves. I was beginning to feel senile :)

I'm on Entocort which is also a steroid, and when I read your post I realised that I have the same problem!!!  Sometimes when I'm talking I stop because I can't remember a specific word I want to use, or I think that I have to do something and seconds later I wonder, "what was it that I wanted to do?".  I also mix up my daughters names, I call for Alexandra and I mean Marina, then I call for Marina and I mean Alexandra, my girls find it so funny, but I don't!!!

I didn't have this kind of problem before, and I'm only 34, so I hope as soon as I taper Entocort, my memory skills will improve!!!

Yes had lots of that even trouble getting words out almost stuttering. It improved alot now I am down but not to worry it will get better .Told my Dr. I was not right in the head on pred. lol gail

I have to join the group.  I had many illness in 2005. I came down with moderate to server Crohn disease and my body was under sieged with infections. I was already diagnose with Diabetes in 1997 (LADA...type 1), osteoarthritis and now Crohn's. I am not taking anything for the Crohn's (except Digestive Advantage for Colitis and Crohn's) because I'm allergic to many of the medication.

My question is can serious illness cause permemnt short term memory lost?  Mine seems to have went on a permanent vacation.
