SLEEP DEPRAVATION

                 God this is hell not being able to sleep im on so much meds you would of thought i would of been in a coma long before now even tried the herbal meds tonight no joy tried the hot chocolate just made me have 2 cups more not much wonder ive got bags under the eyes now that im back on the prednisolone could be down to the steroids any ideas on how to sleep would be extremely appreciated dont want to go down the vallium route!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16.37am starting to turn night into day and day into night not a good sign

meds im on prednisolone,folic acid,domperidom,coedine phosphate,tramadol,

questren sachets,buscopan,methotrexate injections,anti dssssssssss

more than likely ive forgotten the rest lol

hmmmmmmmmmm think ill start writing a song about crohns disease

 

yoga put it this way i could open up another blockbuster thats exactly what i should do watch movies all night long b4 i was diagnosed i had no problem sleeping because i was working shifts once head hit the pillow i was out well now roles reversal does not help the crohns any my consultant said one of the best things for crohns is sleep i guess its ok if your have a regular sleep pattern but us chronnies dont.
you get the dvds ill get the popcorn i can eat that by the bucket load (one of my many luxurys i can still eat)smile
if i dont get some sleep soon ill go nuts my doc wont give me anytthing to make me sleep says im on enough meds.ill ask my consultant he may have a different opinion.got to sleep al 17.00 up at 18.00

my next consultation appm is november ill explain to my consultant it may just be all the stress ive been under with family problems i normally dont have a problem only had 3 hrs yesterday i try to avoid sleeping during the day as i know i dont sleep at night and us chronies need all the sleep we can get my consultant might prescribe some meds for me.
i have read that while your on steroids it can affect your sleep pattern days when i can sleep for an eternity

im on 40 mgs of pred and i DO NOT sleep. there have been t omes where i go 2 or 3 days without sleep and it really does suck. i have tried ambien, trazadone, lunesta, vistoril and forget benedryl nothing helps me at all. right now im taking rozerem which is basically expensive melatonin and that really doesnt help much, although sometimes i do get 5 hours. not enough but it suffices...

so anyhow although i can say i understand i cant help you im sorry babe. keep tryin ill try to send some sleep vibes if i can find em.

I'm still fighting the sleeplessness and I've been off the Prednisone now for about a month. I think my body just got used to not sleeping while I was on it and I need to retrain it. Tylenol PM and Benedryl do nothing for me, they actually make me more hyper. I'm going to see my GI next week and will discuss this with him, hopefully get something temporarily that will help train my body to sleep through the night again. I'm just not sure Ambien will help as I have short bowel, is it time released? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm on 40mg Prednisone and cannot sleep either. My doc wanted to try Ambien but I've read too many wacky things about that drug - instead he gave me Temazepam. Works very well, I take it shortly before I want to sleep and when I close my eyes I just go to sleep, simple. Once the Pred is over with I'm sure I'll have some trouble weening off it (it's down side, addictive) but, in the end, ya gotta sleep.

Hi I sometimes thought of my bed as a torture chamber at times because of the night sweats and pred. I really found it hard but leaving the TV on in the bedroom or listening to music before bed helps get the mind from thinking .The more sleep we loose sometimes the more the mind keeps thinking .You could try that .When I was up on 40 it was winter so I kept the wood stove going I think just doing something I thought was useful helped settle my thinking .I did not stay in bed for hours but got up for awhile when I woke up and one thing I did was read all the forms here to see how others were doing then went to sleep. If this has been going on for a long time I would ask the DR. for something that would relax a person instead of sleeping pills if there not working. I've had the same sleeping problem even when I'm not on meds. I refuse to take sleeping pills so I take Calcium and Magnesium (taken in seperate pills or capsules) and the combo has helped me sleep like a baby! It was like...magic. A friend of mine, no crohnie, went to a massage therapist and he recommended the vitamin/mineral route. Just so happens that it works for me too. It's something that your body needs anyways and it has no side affects the next day.
Mellowed me out considerably. I was a nervous wreak before.
