Resection Recovery Time

I am, in the next month or so, going to be scheduling a resection surgery (my second one). I have ended up in the hospital 2 times this year for an obstruction, and I am ready to head it off at the pass before I have a 3rd. The surgeon said that he didn't recommend a laproscopic procedure for a second resection due to possible complications. My question, for those of you who have had surgery, is what kind of recovery time did you have? I work in retail, so the 4th quarter is the most important time for me (and my paycheck). It was so long ago that I had my last surgery, plus it was laproscopic, and I didn't have a job to go back to at the time, so I'm not really sure what my recovery time really was.

hi i had my surgery done last year i have ti crohns my surgery was done through laparoscopy i had 8-10 inches of diseased intestine removed i went into hospital on the sunday evening surgery was done monday afternoon i was discharged after 3 days the recovery time.
Heavy lifting or exercise was to be avoided 6 weeks after the operation i had the morphine pump which was sheer bliss (smile).
given the option of laparoscopy or open surgery i would much prefer lap i think we all would felt quite sore when was home though so i had to rest for 1-2 weeks dont know if my post will help much

I have had two open resections. Each time I unfortunately got an infection in my incision, so my recovery was a little longer. I was in the hospital about 10 days with each one and my recovery was 8 weeks out of work. That's about 2 weeks longer than the usual. With open surgery, I would say jdiane is in the unusual group. Most are out usually about 6 weeks. I also have a desk job, and there is no way I could have gone back to work after two weeks, I was still taking too many pain killers. I do have to tell you though, with any complications your time out could be longer.
