I've been having extremely bad upper right abdominal pain since mid May. After months of various treatments and tests, the doc finally decided I had a nonfunctioning gallbladder. I had the HIDA scan on Thursday and just got the results a few minutes ago. My gallbladder is normal.

I feel like I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. cool

I told the docs office to go ahead and set me up for exploratory surgery because they have to figure out what is causing me so much pain. I was joking when I said it, but now...

What could this pain possibly be???? Hernia? Cancer??? Alien??? Help!

I see you had your appendix out. you may have adhesions from that surgery, which had been the main cause of my pain and a common cause of abdominal pain. sorry you are going through this. my symptoms are the same as yours and I will be next to you in the looney bin! write if you need more info. yp

by the way, when I got my SBFT results last week and all was "fine" I burst into tears. everytime I hear that I am fine, when I hurt all the time, I lose it!

(((Big Hugs))) to you both. I hear you loud and clear. I have had confirmed Crohns for over 32 years and since my last resection (where they spent 2 hrs cleaning up adhesions) I haven't felt right. I had three obstructive episodes in Feb and March and had multiple catscans and they say no block, no active Crohns. So what are we supposed to just grin and bear it??? Please know that you are not alone. Come here and vent all you like.

Adhesions- I never thought about that! Can they detect those on a test? I know once you get them, you might as well keep them because they will more than likely come back.

Its ironic, but I would rather hear that I have indisputable bad news or diagnosis than, "Your test came back normal." Otherwise, I feel like the docs, friends, family, etc. think I'm lying about my pain! I was all set to have my gallbladder removed. I mean, I really mentally prepared for it. Now, I feel like I have to start over. And my GI? Forget about it, he doesn't care. Their office just told me to "go ahead and take the Vicodin as needed if I'm in pain, and call them if it doesn't get better." Wow. I feel sooooo taken care of! eyes

yes, yes, I so agree. it is crazy to walk around begging to be given bad news, but this is too much for anyone.

as for adhesions, they can only be confirmed through surgery, but my GI suspected because my intestine didn't move during my colonscopy, cuz it was stuck. they are a pain, and yes, they can just as well come back, but my GI pretty much forced me to have surgery last year, and it helped...some.

So sorry you're having a rough time! I can "zap" the GI for you...just say the word! I was diagnosed with gallstone about 3 weeks ago. Of course, function test is normal, so it's just floating around causing more grief! Hisssssssssssss!
