age DX with crohn's

44, but symptoms for years before

So interesting to see a number of people here dx in late 30's and beyond. I have a lot of doctors in my family and they're all trying to tell me that it can't be CD because I'm "too old" for that dx. I've been joking that I must have the body of a 20 year old.... ;-)

I was diagnosed with CD at age 37 but had been sick for about 4 years (getting progressively worse) prior to DX. Not sure if this has anything to do with my CD but in 2000 I weighed 200lbs. and went on Dr. Atkins high protein low carb diet and lost 50lbs. When I started reintroducing more carbs into my diet is when my stomach problems first started, beginning with diarrhea...it was all downhill after that. Coincidence??? I'm inclined to think not. I lost another 40lbs due to the CD over the course of about 2 years.

Hmm, 30 for the initial UC dx ( my b-day as some here will recall), 31 for the CD. But first IBD symptoms were as far back as 17-18. First recognizable IBD symptom was rectal bleeding & that started right before my 25th b-day! Senior year in college, I guess some stress factored in there as well..

Don't know if you all know this but, most get diagnosed in their teens to early 20's, but the second most common age is 35 or later. Just fyi!

Had what I call IBS for about 15 years and nervous stomach issues as a child. My vision and joint pain, along with a slight increase in gut issues, is what really sent me to find the answer to my problems.

64 years. I understand that's pretty old. No symptoms up till then but had C-diff a year before then and have wondered if that set me up for Crohn's which may have been lurking. Have been on Pentasa, Endocort (trying to get off) tried Remicade (yuk!) and attempting the Specific Carbohydrate Diet--another yuk!

Im 21 DX March 07 They think I might have had it since I was little I've not been able to use the bathroom my whole life. They streched my bowels when I was 10 months old. Two sets of my great grandparents died of Colon Cancer. Meds- Remicade and Cymbalta for depression.

 I was dx'ed at 17.

-Lost fiancee' -- Good Ridence, jerk!

 

-Graduated late -- But I DID IT!
