:-)  Well today i should of attended an appeal for disability living allowance in front of 3 panel members i did not have to be present i have been awarded disability living allowance finally after 4 years its took me 4 attempts and it was worth every minute of it including the stress everything went in my favour and i could not of asked for a better doctor that came and visited me when i was ill so at the minute im really happy for once in my life and im going,on holiday on saturday with my partner and the kids at least things are on the up :-) .

That is wounderful new's and it will even get better since you are not under all of that stress.So go and have a wounderful time.

Hi everyone, I have just applied for Disability (DLA) any tips on best way to get your claim accepted, they have just written off for more information about me, I am not sure if they have written to my GP or the Hospital Consultant. Im glad to hear you have been successful and well done for keeping appealing.... You have won!!

Congrats Angel on finally getting your disability! Sounds like you had a really uphill battle to get your just rewards, good for you. I was wondering, are you in US or Europe?

im from the uk mcleaver and it was not an easy battle i can tell you it was hell just keep persevering i know its stressful i worked for 15 years and i was never ill now the goverment wont give me what i am entitled to so after 3 attempts for dla and refused everytime i decided to appeal against the decision all i can say is thank god its over for all you other cronnies out there applying for dla and getting knocked back dont give up its will be worth it in the end.

Hi Angela.

Congratulations on your award for DLA.
I think its terrible that you had to wait so long for something you are entitled to as soon as you applied.
I hope you got some back pay and enjoy every minute spending it, you deserve it......... :-) .

Im also from the UK and I was told years ago, as a Crohn's sufferer not to even attempt to apply for DLA. Wish I did though, and fought it to the end. I have worked, paid my dues............maybe we should try faking an illness, might get awarded then!!!!!!!

Since having my ileostomy last year, I was told the same thing re DLA, but I returned to work and again never bothered.

well i was nursing for 15 years stopped working 2004 when i was diagnosed with the crohns could not cope with the shifts dont get me wrong it has not been easy applying a lot of perseverance and paperwork lol im just thankful the day the dla doctor came into visit me for the report i literally was on my death bed i had lost a stone in weight within weeks and i had 3 months of diahorrea its not often you get a doctor thats in your favour.
As he says i can only report what i see he did me proud (smile)ive worked all my life and never missed a shift it appears to be the malingarers that qualify for dla your alcoholics backache thats been round a block a few times!!!!!!!!!!the people who are genuingly ill get nothing so the way i see it is im only applying for what im entitled to dee if you do apply dont give up it took me 4 attempts and it worked many times i felt like saying bugger it its to stressful.
But on the wednesday i received a call from them saying i had been awarded dla not sure what award yet though i wont know until i return from holiday ill be due a years backdated money got a feeling im going to really enjoy this holiday for the 1st time in 3 years last year my partner booked a holiday in dubai for my 40th i had a date with the hospital instead i really need this break i think we all do.
Apply for dla you might not be successful the 1st time but keep peserving(smile)

Hi Angela.

Like you I worked hard throughout my illness, at the time I was a healthcare assistant and only took time off when I was on my last legs, thinking back I dont know how I did it, but I was determined to keep on going for as long as possible.
I know of several people who have recieved all the benefits they can get their greedy hands on and they are fit as a fiddle.........they know how to work the system.
Its bad enough having to claim Incapacity Benefit, then go through the reviews, its no fun having to discuss your bowel movements (or lack of ) in front of a panel LOL.

Anyhoo, I hope the postman delivers you a nice BIG cheque......... :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) .
