  I have had CD for over 50 years, for the last 20 years or so, I can always tell when I am going to have a flare up, even befor the pain starts, I get the Night sweats so bad, I have to get up several times a night to dry off, and have to sleep on pads to keep the bed try.  Does any one else experience this...

Yup, i had the same, but for me it was before i was diagnosed and before being medicated. Part of the reason for this though i think was because i had a low grade fever for 3 months before they figured out what it was. When i was on high doses of Pred this was still the case, but once again, since Pred makes your body kick into overdrive, it would explain this. Since i have gotten off the Pred and gone into remission i stopped the sweating

I still sweat on occasion since off pred. Some nights I have to use my heating pad so I turn the AC on and I still wake up drenched. Other nights for no known reason I sweat a lot too.

i also get night sweats they seem to go along with abcess amounts

yes, I get the sweats during the day too. I had a hesterectomy so I know it's partly due to hormones but I has them before the surgery. It seems they are worse when I have a flare up. Has anyone talked to their Dr. about it?

Yep. I get them off and on. Sometimes during the day too.

Strange you should bring this up.  I was just diagnosed with Crohn's on 10/9/07.  I am 37 years old.  I suffered from night sweats about 2 weeks before I had the flare-up that required me to go to the doctor.  Now, I am on predisone and Lialda.  I am STILL suffering from night sweats.  I will have to pay attention in the future to determine if night sweats indicate a flare-up coming on.

I have night sweats to the point that the moisture wakes me up and then my pillow and sheet are drenched.

But I'm not on prednisone, just anti-inflammatories ... does anyone know why I would be waking up drenched every night and waking in the morning shivering cold?

I am 43.  I get night sweats on and off.  Always before a bad day of d.  I am currently in an active state of chrone's.  On night sweat nights, I am drenched in sweat - my legs to a wet head of hair.  I feel your pain.

Prednisone is one of the culprits when it comes to night sweats, but I've also noticed it going hand in hand with illness.

Strangely enough, I have found that when I'm in that cycle, the best night garmets are flannel pajamas or nightdresses. They wick the moisture away from my skin but I usually can get away without having to change the sheets. Isn't it just the pits. When you are feeling your worst, you have to get up in the middle of the night -- usually cold in the northern winter -- and strip off you and the sheets. It used to drive my partner absolutely berserk -- until I started soiling the bed. Know if it's just a night sweat he realizes it's a good night.

devil  I've been on Humira 6 weeks and I'm having horrible night sweats!  Does it mean the Humira's not working?  My joint pain has improved tremendoesly the last two weeks, but the night sweats have gotten worse.  Do I call my GI?

I was getting night sweats even before I was on any meds, before I was diagnosed. Now, I'm on prednisone and I'm still getting night sweats and am not able to sleep...

Hmmm...never thought of the night sweats being an indicator of upcoming flare. Interesting. I'll have to pay more attention. Had the fever/sweats a lot before dx. For some reason the pred makes my feet sweat. I'd recommend cotton pj's, blankets & sheets for anyone who's waking up drenched. Helps the skin breath, wicks moisture and keeps you warm/cool better. Also, anyone with fungal issues would appreciate the added benefits of cotton.

I have had night sweats for about a year. Never thought they were connected to Crohn's -- assumed peri-menopause. But, I'll check with my GI on this. I still have them pretty frequently. I'm on Pred right now (20 mg).

I actually get night sweats so badly that several times a night i have to get up and change my pillow case because it is drenched- i have had to begin sleeping on the couch because they are so bad, and it was driving myself and my husband nuts that i was drenching the sheets every night.  The night sweats have happened to me all throught my journey with crohn's- I think it is a common issue with CD itself, and then is often exacerbated by meds typically taken for CD

Right before I have a hugely painful attack where I'm doubled over in immense pain my entire body becomes cold and my face starts sweating like I've been running a marathon. That's always a sign for me to find some place to sit or lie down quickly, because it's going to be bad..
