Anyone else have a dr. that believes in shortening the length of time between remicade treatments?  I have been on Remicade about 11 months, and not making it 8 weeks apart without the D and stomach cramps firing up.  So the Dr. is moving my treatments to every 7 weeks and willing to go as close as 5 weeks apart if needed.  Wanting to know if anyone's dr's have voiced thoughts on this approach.

Yup, I started at every eight weeks, then my GI increased the doasge from 5 mg/kg to 6 mg/kg every 8 weeks. Still was having problems, so I was moved to the new dosage every 6 weeks. Then I was still having problems so dosage increased again. Ended up at 7.5 mg/kg every 5.5-6 weeks.

When I was on it, I went from 8 to 12 to 6 to 4, depending upon how I was doing.

Yes, I was doing every 6 weeks at a double dose but needed to do it more like every 4 . Now, I am able to go every 10 weeks + and actually hoping to get off it completely in January (cross your fingers). Do what ever is necessary to get you better!

yes when i was on remicade i was having it every 5 weeks.

after my 5th infusion i mentioned to the g.i. that after 6 weeks i was feeling lousy after 6 weeks. so he bumped me up to 6 weeks.

Mine were every 4 weeks. Sometimes we did like a booster and would repeat it two weeks later and that always helped. Remicade does not stay in the system as long as they initially thought. It really needs to be tailored to your needs. My gi would have done it every 2 weeks had it been necessary...Susie
