I have a CT scan schedule and I've got my period. Will a tampon effect the scan? What do I do.

I hate having to ask my Dr.  Thanks for your help!

I don't know but maybe somone does you could try a pad or ask them when you get your test. Maybe someone else on here can tell you I never had that problem .lol gail

I work w/ct/mri techs they said it is OK to wear a tampon.

Wow...Tampons....I havn't used those in yrs, when I first got sick I was going so many times that it was such a hassle wearing them, changing them so often and such...I sure don't miss them for the most part...thanks to this DD wearing a pad gives me that little extra security with possible "accidents" from the butt location LOL!

On one of my CT of the abd I had a tampon in but never told them.  They called me with viewing the ct to ask if I had had one in. oopps

I dont think it matters. I have had a billion CT's and I know one time or another I had one in and they never said anything to me. It shouldn't mess with anything, surely they will be able to tell it's just a piece of paper lol. Good luck!

haha I am getting a CT scan tomorrow and also will have a tampon in. I didn't even think about that issue. I will ask them about it tomorrow as well.

when i had my last CT scan,the nurse asked me if i had underwire in my bra,because i think that the metal can effect the scan.i wouldn't think that a tampon would effect it,but it doesen't hurt to ask.don't be embarrassed to ask.better to be safe than sorry.i mean,hey.were women.and most women have periods.most people know this and should understand it.and if they can't,tough for them!be proud to ask your womenly questions.he he.please reply with any comments or questions.

When I had my SBFT I was using one of those vaginal rings for hormone replacement (its called Femring and is really great, but its only estrogen so you can't have a uterus) You leave it in for 3 months and it releases hormone, bypassing the liver. When it was in place I never gave it another thought. It is a material that looks like a silicone donut, although I don't know what it actually is. Well, the gi doctor was reading the report to me and he asked me "do you have a pessary?" (which I understand is usually used by elderly women?) I said "no, why?" and then it hit me what he meant. That was kind of funny so I guess it does show up on xrays, the report said "patient appears to have a pessary in place". When I had my colonoscopy done I removed it.
