I've been on remicade since March and have seen no improvement. I started off at every 8 weeks but i'm now at every 4 weeks. I have an appointment with my GI on Nov 13 and am thinking about asking him to switch me to Humira. Luckily i'm on the Remicade assistance program  so I don't have to pay for it. Does anybody know if there is a similar program for Humira.  all I know is i've had CD for almost 10 years and have never been in remission. I just deal with the pain and try to live as normal of a life as I can. It kinda sucks cuz I have a 2 yr old daughter and a 3 mo old son and if i'm having a bad day i can't even play with them. I have tryed all sorts of medicine and haven't been able to find the right combo for me. Also my GI is kind of limited with what he can prescribe me since i don't have any insurance. I did just start a new job  so hopefully i can make it through the probationary period and get on their plan.

Sorry if this post is kind of long and thanks for having such a great website, it has helped me a whole lot.

Does your state have something like Medicaid for low income parents? I don't know if you have low income, but I'm in the same situation you are. I applied for my disability and got turned down, but I am going to court soon to fight the case and I keep my medical card until then. You could check at your local cabinet for families and children to see what kind of assistance they might offer you. I know how hard it is to be a parent and be sick, I deal with it every single day of my life. I have been dealing with depression also on top of everything else that CD causes. It sucks so bad and I'm sorry for you. My sons are 9 months and 23 months and its okay to have bad days. Lately, I have been trying to do something either with my children or something that I enjoy myself to get my mind off my belly pain. Try a new hobby and I think it probably will help you. I'm trying to open a kennel because I love dogs! I am on Remicade too and have tried about every medicine there is, except Humira. I am also considering it and surgery as well. Hope you get to feeling better and please know that you are NOT alone! :)

Abbott, the manufacturer of Humira, does not seem to have an assistance program listed on their site. I do see that they refer those that need assistance paying for meds to this program: https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php

Besides pain, what other symproms are you having that Remicade has not controlled? Are you still having lots of diarrhea? The reason I ask is because you list that you are still on Pentasa. Some people adversely react to mesalamine products. They have increased diarrhea and pain. Something to think about.

I don't have a problem with diarrhea and the only symptom Remicade has not controlled is the abdominal pain. I've been on Pentasa for 8 yrs so i'm wondering if my body is building an immunity to it. I'm going to ask my GI about it. Also, i'm considering surgery too. I don't really want to(who does) but i know eventually i will, i accected that fact a long time. I'm just hoping to put it off as long as possible.

I've been trying to find a hobby that doesn't cost too much and i am suffering from depression as well. I've been doing everything i can think of to keep my mind off of the pain and sometimes i'm successful and sometimes i'm not. I can tell everybody one thing, with two small children everyday is different and interesting and if it wasn't for my kids and fiace i don't know where i would be.
