Has Humira been approved for Crohn's yet?  Is it still crazy expensive with insurance plans as well? Just curious as I may have to have this discussion with my doctor soon about switching to Humira.

Yes it's approved. That what ended the study I was in :)

Awesome, my doctor keeps going on and on about it not being approved and really expensive.  We'll have to discuss this.  Do you know "when" it was approved?

i was told that each shot costs $850 (ish) without insurance. I'm on BlueCross Blue Shield TN, and i only pay $20 for whatever meds i get, so I try to get a 3 month supply (just started, so i've yet to ask for the perscription) but i had to get 6 shots the first time around, and only had to pay the 20, so i didn't complain ^^

Hi there,I can't complain either,I got my first series a month ago,and the four shots cost $6754 and I ONLY had to pay $20,so I considered myself fortunate in that aspect.  Good luck :-)

My insurance has a co-pay of $50 if I use their mail order pharmacy.  the first 6 shots 9my loading dose) were $50 and now I do 2 shots every other week, get a 90 day supply (12 injections) for another $50.   If I want I can use my local pharmacy and the co-pay would be 40%...at $750 per shot that would mean my first year on this drug would cost over $16,000.  I think I will stay with mail order ($250 a year).

BTW...if you live here in the USA and your doctor is not aware that Humira has been approved for CD...you may want to really think about the level of care you are getting.
