tongue  HI!  I am new to the site!  I have been reading for a while and it is great to have found others in the same situation.  I actually feel very lucky after reading some of your horror stories!!!

I have had great success on Remicade for my CD. It will be 4 years this December that I started getting infusions.  The day I started getting the infusions was the day my life improved!!!!

 

I was on Remicade AND 6MP when I got pregnant last summer.  My GI took me off the 6MP but left me on Remicade and spaced my infusions to every 10 weeks since I was in remission for a couple of years.  I had a great pregnancy and delivered a HEALTHY baby boy in April!  I have also been breastfeeding for 6 months!  I still get my Remicade every 10 weeks, but never went back on the 6 MP.

Just wanted to let the moms out there know that it is possible to have a great pregnancy with CD.  I was scared, but actually felt better pregnant!

I am on remicade and looking to get pregnant. One doctor told me not to be on Remicade during pregnancy and one told me to stay on it. Help!!!! How far into remission were you before pregnancy?

I guess i had been in remission for about 2 1/2 years before i got pregnant.  i went to see a specialist that has been working with crohn's patients for 30 years before getting pregnant and he assured me that it was safe.  it is better to get remicade while in remision while pregnant than to have a flare during your pregnancy - in that case, it would be hard to treat you. i was aprehensive about it...but had a wonderful pregnancy with ZERO problems and now have a very healthy baby. let me know if you have any other question!

I was told not to take oral birth control because of the risk of Pulmonary embolism. From what I was told the risk doubles. What, if you don't mind me asking, did you do for birth control? I also have a loop of bowel that looks like it might be attaching itself to my uterus. Do you have any info about how your bowel did or if you ran into the same problem? Thanks for your help!!! Also have you ran into any people that have not had good luck with pregnancy while on remicade?

I was on the pill for about 10 years prior to getting pregnant. i never had a problem with the pill and my crohn's.

i really do not know anyone else personally with cd or on remicade...just my lonely self!!!

and no problem for me with my bowel!
