I've been having lots of leg cramps in my calves. Does anyone know if this could be connected to chron's? Maybe because of diet?

I have the same thing. I was wondering about
that. I will get them so bad when I'm sleeping it hurts to walk the next day because the muscles are so sore. I figured it was just something I was lacking in my diet.

dehydration, low blood sugar, low levels of potassium and/or magnesium, could be many things.

Are you taking any steroids at the moment? That alone could be a cause. Or some of the options jdiane mentioned could be the culprit. Hope you get some relief soon.

When you're in the middle of a cramp put a potassium pill under your tongue and let it disolve. It will be absorbed directly into your bloodstream. If it's a lack of potassium that will sometimes kill the cramp.

I'm not on any steriods. I'm going to try drinking more water and the potassium pill. Hopefully that will work!

Often calcium, magnesium and LOTS of water could be due to DEHYDRATION !!!(avoid coffee and tea?). Potassium = eat bananas.

Yes, also low calcium can lead to leg cramping.

Hi all
I use to get a lot of leg cramps when i was getting close to my B12 shot. I'm not sure if its lack of B12 thats was causing it but they up my dose of B12 now my leg craps are a lot less now. This could be why.

I use to have leg cramps in my calves, only when i was pregant for my children. Now, i am too old for that, and started haveing cramps in my calves within the last 6 months. i asked the doctor about
it, and my Vitamin D is 12 and suppose to be 50+. He also told me to drink 3 ounces a day of TONIC water, it has Quinine in it. It is nasty tasting, but it has helped. I thought maybe it was my chrons, or my Humaria. but is was the Vitamin D, and Calcuim defeintacy. The Tonic water helps, and it saves on more meds, let alone cost.

I had a bad case of that! I couldn't walk at all from the pain and I turned out to be low on vitamin D.

I always get them while on pred. Nasty bugars that wake me up in the middle of the night and i go "ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow! Fudge monkeys" etc.
but if you're not on steroids, i've read it's lack of potassium or lactic acid.
Best way to fix that? Banana Milkshake!!!
