I find out tomorrow if I have to take Humira...

Does it hurt?

How often do I have to take it?

Myself I use the injector pens, it stings for all of 20 seconds and its over for two weeks. Your inital does will be 4 shots then 2 weeks later two followed by one every week. Worked wonders for me.

I have been on Humira now for about a year and a half.  It has been a wonderful help and relief to my Crohn's.  I feel the best I have ever felt in 16 years.  I take the shot at night, once every two weeks.  First I take two benadryl.  I wait about an hour and then take the Humira shot.  It does sting a bit, I won't lie to you.  If you take the shot out of the fridge about 15 -30 minutes prior, it's not as bad as the cold stuff.  After, it stings for about a minute.  Then I have no pain at all.  The next day I do have some mild reddness and swelling which goes away after 24 hours or so.  I wish you luck--may you have the good results I have had!

I use the pen, take it out of the refrig 30 minutes before I am going to inject. I have NEVER had one trace of stinging. I hope the Humira does the trick for you and puts you into remission!

I'm now on Humira one shot every two weeks with the syringe,for me,the syringe is much better than the pen,my advise is to take the Humira out of the fridge about  15minutes prior to the injection,and ice the site,it really does help,because it stings very bad,but with the ice and at room temp,it was SO MUCH better!!! Hang in there!!

i equate the pain to pinching my ear lobe mildly for a few seconds.....much less uncomfortable than countless trips to the bathroom daily.....

I used the pens for my loading dose (4 shots then 2 shots 2 weeks later).  For the first 4 shots, I stopped at my doctor's office on the way to work.  The nurse gave the first one and I gave the other 3 (all in my abdomen).  I had no side effects, and drove to work.  For the shots 2 weeks later, I injected them in my thigh and found them to sting more than in the abdomen.  It hurts for just seconds.

This month, I'm going to try the syringes.  I didn't have a problem with the pens, but the whole big plastic gizmo seemed like a lot of waste, so I'll help the environment and use the syringe.

Btw, I'm from Michigan too!

I started Humira last week - I did the ice numbing and left the pens out of the fridge for 30 minutes, but my four shots still stung pretty badly. I know that everyone reacts differently, hope it goes well for you!

No don't be scared. Keep in touch and let us know how it works for you! It stings for a while. The INJECTION def. hurts A LOT less in my opinion. But if it works the stinging is manageable. Don't be scared! It may be a new BEGINNING FOR YOU! Good Luck!
