All too often, I find myself getting a little distracted and sad because of this disease.  I have found this board helpful in answering many questions, but have also realized that many of us have a great sense of humor toward our situations.  So I decided to let you know something that makes me laugh everytime I go to my G.I.'s office.  Many people have different names, but few truly fit their occupations.  Everytime I pull into my G.I's office, I laugh like a 7 year old because one of the G.I. doctors is a Dr. Pugh.  It just cracks me up because it says Dr. Pugh Gastrology.  I know that it is immature and I am sorry if anyone else share this name, but it is just so fitting for a person with that last name to be in this field.  My wife also used to go to an OBGYN named Dr. Feelherup(no joke,that really is her name)

What are some of the funny doctor names or situations that you all have seen?  A little off of the Crohn's topic, but all of us need a laugh here once in a while.

here at my work we have an ob gyn named dr stork  =0) -- my favorite

a surgeon called dr au (prounounced OW!) used to have a surgeon named dr puncture! 

we also have a doctor named dr spack (prounounced spock--star trek)

I just heard an advertisement for a new type of surgery that re-lines your hip joint (which is called a ball joint) if it's worn away due to repetitive exercise like running. I thought it was funny that the doctor was called Dr. Ball.

Not as funny as Dr. Puch or Dr. au, or heaven forbid a GYN named Dr. Finger, lol.

None of my doctors but, I have heard of an orthopedic surgeon w/a surname of Bone. And a general surgeon whose surname is Payne. An oral surgeon w/a surname of Pull.

Not medical professionals but in our small town we have to rather large families w/the surnames of Horny and Efu. Now, can you imagine a young girl growing up w/a surname of Horny?? And I worked w/a woman who married a Fink. I think I would have insisted that he take MY surname!!

I have one for you'll I use to have a dentist with the name DR.Hurt no kidden I still laugh every time I think of him.I all so went to school with a guy and his true sure name is ready???Lary Dick Head how is that for you.I use to think he was joking about his name but he showed me his birth certificet (sp)he was telling the truth.

There is a gastro named Dr. Ramsbottom in my city....I'm not kidding....perfect name for those colonoscopies!

OK, this isn't a doctor . . . but in my building there's a (very tall) guy named Richard Small. With his last name, you'd think he'd use his full first name, or maybe the nickname Rich or Rick. But no. He introduces himself as Dick Small. Sigh.

My dentist is named Dr. Whitener. I love him, too. He is wonderful.

My husband had a GP named Harry Hyman.

And last but not least my friend takes her mother to a GI named Grablow.

My GI is Dr. Fefer (pepper in German) - I always have to be careful and not ask for Dr. Pepper! Certainly not as funny as some of the above, but I still chuckle with his name.

I have to say that when it comes to funny names parents sometimes dont help the situation. For example ,the Hog family had two daughters. They named them Ima, and Ura. True, I promise.You can bet they caught ten kins of H--- in school. Also when names come to mind I recall a family that had a tradition of taking turns naming each new baby. One member was not the sharpest tool in the shed and when it was his turn to name the latest member of the family everyone was afraid of what he would come up with, especially the new mom , his sister. The child was born ,a girl and he said they should name her Denise. with much relief his sister asked what he would have named her had she been a boy. His answer,,,,danephew..

My dentist growing up was Dr. Needleman and my orthodontist was Dr. Hurtzberg. Ita a good thing that we were allowed to call them by their first names, or my mom never would have gotten us in the car!
