Entocort - how long are you on it for?

Hi,

I'm wondering how long typical Entocort treatments are.  I was hoping that I would be tapering off them, and my doctor just told me that I have at least 4 more months.

The FDA has approved Entocort to be used to achieve remission -- up to 8 weeks at 9 mg a day. After the remission is achieved, then Entocort is also approved as a maintenance med...clinical trials show 6 mg, taken daily for another three months after the initial 8 weeks, can extend remission significantly.

However, my daughter is in full remission on Entocort and has taken it pretty much nonstop since April 2006. Flared in July 2006 only when she tried to go off the last pill of Entocort.

Two Mt Sinai GIs say they have patients who have been on Entocort for years.

I've been on it since September. Started on 9 mg and I've been taking 3mg for about a week now.

Hi,

I have been on Entocort for bout 1 1/2 now got it down to 3 mg a day GI says I should stay on this med.  Used long term remmision here in Canada.
