Has anyone gone to Mayo?

I live in North Dakota and am about 7 hours from Mayo Clinic. People here often go there for a more extensive workup. My GI doc is not very helpful and has no bedside manner. I am having an ongoing problem with breathing when I have bad GERD and/or constipation. He just tells me it is my animal allergy, although I know it is not since it isn't always a problem and my animals are ALWAYS here. And now he is gone to India for 3 months. I'm seriously considering taking a trip to Mayo this summer.

Has anyone gone and how did it work out for you? How did you get an appointment? Are there any specific doctors that I should try to see?

Hello. I have never posted here before. But I did just get back from Mayo the week of Thanksgiving. They were great. I would recommend anyone who CAN go, to go. If you are going for gastro reasons you do not have to have a referral. I called them on a Friday and told them my issues ( I had a rare Crohns complication-abcess in my psoas muscle) and was in the hospital here for a week and then discharged and was not getting better as fast as I thought I should and had began to not trust my doctors here. So I went up there. Anyways, called on a Friday and they were able to get me in on Monday. I could not believe it. I just had to round up all of my records and scans. They don't mess around up there. They get you in and out very quickly.
