Does CD move??

Well, I went to see my GI yesterday, and he was all ready to give me a speech on why I should have surgery. Then I informed him, that at my last hospital visit (in another state, around thanksgiving) they told me it wasn't my illium where I was flaring up, it was now flaring in my small intestine. So my CD has moved from the right side of my body to the left.

Now, the docs in the other state didn't seem too concerned by this, in fact, I was under the impression that oh well, these things happen. But my doc here at home is very concerned. He said CD doesn't do that. So now further looking at my ct scans and perhaps some more scopes are needed.

So Now i'm asking yall, is this a common thing? does your CD just move around like that? I understand it can happen anywhere from mouth to anus. But does it move?

Oh, and off topic... i was very sad that House was a re-run last night :(

Well of course CD moves....it moved from one state to another with you :-) hehehe

Like you noted Cd can be anywhere in the digestive tract. I personally do not think CD moves, but I think a person has CD in certain areas and may not have symptoms immediately with the other areas. I also know that even though you surgically remove CD, it can reappear at the anastamosis site---I have that issue.

Well, House was a repeat, but I had missed the beginning last time so it worked for me. House has replaced CSI Vegas as my my witty retort show.

I don't know if it "moves" but I think it can spread. That might be splitting hairs though.

I've always had it in my descending colon and that was it. In Summer 2006, I had a bowel resection where the colon turns down (there is an actual name for it, but it's early...) and that was the only place where there was active CD at the time. Since then, a scope showed signs of CD throughout my entire colon. FUN!

It could be that you have disease in more than one area of your intestines at one time. Crohn's disease is known for skipping over parts of intestines and flaring in other parts. Most of the time it's in the ileum and/or the colon where it could be in separate areas also.

So when the other hospital said it's flaring in the small intestine, did they tell you or show you exactly where they mean? The Ileum is part of the small intestine, a very large part, then you have the jejunum and the duodenum. Are they sending your local doctor the test results?

Crohns has a mind of it's own, which is likely why so much more needs to be learned...but of course it can "move" it can easily be affecting one area, clear up and affect another, or many areas at one time or stay constant in one area only, or constant in one area with other areas being affected on and off...

With my own experiance it started in the anus (perianal crohns skin tags) and has stayed there constantly due to complications of being misDX with having hemmies when they weren't and treated (surgery on them as if they were hemmies, big no no) then I also had it in my rectom (proctitis), colon (crohns-colitis) and TI (ileitis), all when I first became sick with crohns this happend. Then it cleared up in my TI, comes and goes still in the rectom and has stayed constant in the colon and anus.

All they told me was it was on the left part. I'm assuming that's the jejunum. <shrug>

They should be sending my CT scans, but really that's the only testing i had.

mine moved from my ileum to infect my jejunum...could support this bacteria theory...

It sure does and can move. I had surgeries this year and my intestines were fully rid of any CD. I had never had any CD in my large intestine and now I have a fistula that has come to my skin right under my belly button that is from the large intestine. It not only can migrate fron one part of the GI tract to another it can also migrate to the lungs. I even have had a MRI of my brain to see if the cause of my migraines was caused by my CD.
