A new observation!

As today played out I realized a totally new problem!  Stick with me on this.  Last night I slept in a white sweatshirt.  This morning I washed & dried my face with a white washcloth and towel.  I wore another white shirt underneath a sweatshirt to my office.  Now, I had a biopsy of the cervix & uterus on Tuesday.  By Wednesday morning my skin on my face was irritated?  The only reason I bring the biopsy into the picture is because my husband washed clothes for me that night as I was doing the percocet shuffle.  You guessed it...he washed a load of whites in regular bleach.  Now, I have water filters in my shower & kitchen which filter out cholrine.  When I woke up this morning around 6am I had the CD attack with butt heaves from heck! Wore me out so I went back to bed.  By 8am I woke up with a dry hacking cough out of nowhere which got progressively worse as the day unfolded.  By 3pm I had welts around my neck.  Mind you, I have not eaten, drank anything out of the ordinary.  I now guess I can add a pretty severe reaction to cholrine to my allergy list!  Took a shower, put on a colored shirt washed with no dyes or perfumes and took a benedryl.  Feeling much better now!  Anyone else with cholrine experiences?

Actually after the whole ordeal today I wouldn't dare try the bleach on undies. I guess the shirt(s), face cloth & towel were just way too close to my face and nasal passages! I usually use a non-cholrine bleach, however, there just happened to be a bottle of bleach on my laundry shelf I keep for pouring down drains and tough household problems. I use it rarely and only in a well ventilated area. Husband didn't know any better. I mainly don't use it in the clothes & water because of my psorasis. Never knew I had such a sensitivity/allergy to it!

We have a new baby girl in our house...she is 8 days old....so we have been using the Ivory soap for babies. We all smell so sweet and pretty now....I love the smell so much I may just stick to it from now on.
Tide I have heard is the worst laundry detergent to use. ....It will eat away at your machine quicker than any other laundry soap so you can just imagine what it does to sensitive skin. (saw this on a 6 oclock news consumer report).

Gail- I of course thought immediately about the Humira but when the reaction occurred it was 6 days after my last injection. I'm guessing I would have had an allergic reaction sooner than that, however, I haven't ruled this out yet. Overall symptoms seemed to improve after removing the shirt and taking a shower & benedryl.

Goaliegirl- I've never had an abnormal pap and I'm waiting for my results on my annual pap, biopsies and thyroid tests that should be in next week. Primarily they are doing this as a precaution in my case before trying me on natural hormones. As for the biopsy procedure it's not that big of a deal. You'll feel some slight pinching and since it's the cervix you may have a couple of contractions during the procedure. If the doctor is nice...tell him to let you know when it's coming and do deep breaths through the contractions. I told my doctor that the procedure was a piece of cake compared to the abdominal CD pain! You may be a tinsy bit sore afterwards and have a small amount of bleeding for a couple of days (suggest a pad rather than a tampax.) Also, don't get overly anxious about the abnormal pap yet. Some women have abnormal paps all the time and everything is fine. Good luck to you and let me know how things turn out!
