10 yrs away from a cure

My mother said she read in the paper that they were 10 years away from finding a cure for crohn's/colitus.  Does anyone know of a resource which would support this fact.

I have a question as well. What have Dr.'s said about blood in stool. I just did a cycle of solofolk and the blood went away and so did the other typical symptoms that come with CD such as the urgency, cramping ect. So I went off the Solofolk and now I am seeing an increase in blood but with no other symptoms this has been going on for two weeks now. How concerned should I be.  I see my specialist in Feb do you think I can wait until then?  

If you were on salofalk, why did you go off of it. It is usually prescribed to induce remission and maintain it.

Not sure if there is any conclusive evidence of a cure. There was a post recently about the success of stem cells in the treatment of Crohn's. Of all I've read regarding potential cures, this was by far the most encouraging.

I went off the salofalk because it was the enema type not the pill and I only had to do it for 4 weeks. To be honest that is all I can handle.  I found the enema salofalk exacerbates some of the symptoms ie urgency, cramping and just plain feeling terriable.  When I see my GP next week I will see if maybe I can go on the tablets for awhile instead.
