Infections

I am in the middle of a bad flare up and my gi doc just emailed me that he wants to have some stool tests done for parasites, etc..because of my history of c.difficile infection.  I dont' have cramping or pain however which is weird.  I am also battling a bronchitis and/or sinus infection.  I am very worried that I will need an antibiotic and I can't take any except for vancomycin without getting severe diarrhea.  Has anyone else had this situation?  If so, what antibiotic do they give you?  I haven't slept at all last night as I am coughing so hard.  I am so stressed over this!!! UGH!!

I am in the same boat as you. I always end up with 2-6 weeks of Vancomycin with when I get infections as well. I also take Humira and they had me hold the doses until I was done. No n. Hope you feel better soon.

I've been battling sinus and ear infections since the end of November. I've done 3 partial rounds of antibiotics. I had to stop the Doxycycline, it killed my stomache. I won't take that again. Then we tried a Z pack, I finished that one, but still had the sinus infection. The nurse practitioner couldn't believe it when she looked and I still had an infection after all the antibiotics. So then they brought out the big guns and put me on Augmentin. That one put me in the ER for 2 days straight with a drug reaction, but because it was me, it wasn't recognizable as a drug reaction. Also an antibiotic I won't be doing again. I stopped that one a few days before Xmas. I thought I was over it all, but in the last few days my sinus and ears are getting bad again, so it may be back for round number 4.

So I guess my suggestion is that you may have to try several until you find on that finally works.
