Vitamin b12 injection

Is this normal?

I've been getting b12 injections for the last 4weeks. Once a week.  I'm now going to once a month and I have no energy. Taking a shower feels like a workout.  I would have been due for an injection last Saturday if I was still doing it weekly.  Is this normal or am I losing my mind?  I feel like I have no energy and everything I do feels like work.  I have my bowel resection next Thursday Jan.10 (ti, illeocecal valve, some of my right colon).

I have Crohn's in my terminal ileum as well, and am supposed to be getting B12 injections monthly. I don't notice too much of a difference when I take them and when I don't - I will usually go a few months without taking one, and then when it is convenient drop by the doctor's office. When my disease is flaring, I have diarrhea and thus am not absorbing as many nutrients from my food - this is when I notice the weakness and lack of energy. I know others do notice a big difference with the B12 injections though, so perhaps it depends on the extent of your B12 deficiency?

I have a B12 deficiency, and have been having shots bi-weekly for sometime, with no real change in energy. My doctor tells
me it can take a long time, sometimes, before you feel the benefit. So please don't let it slide, you'll need them now more
than ever...

what is your exercise level at? i really hate to state the obvious, but blood flow is extremely important in this disease, as is maintaining your muscle strength. i go through periods myself when im extremely lazy, and naturally, my legs are like noodles if i don't keep them working.

when you say its like a workout, what is your main symptom? are you out of breath? muscle weakness? if you're out of breath, this could be a cardiovascular problem. all of the medicines we take diminish our folic acid which is crucial for health heart functioning. drink that o.j. or take an oral folic acid supplement which is perfectly safe.

give the b-12 time.

I have recently had B12 shots every day for a week, then once a week for a period of one month, and after that I am supposed to have monthly B12 shots. Currently on pronisone. However, I do not have energy at all. Tired and exhausted all the time. I don't think it is normal. I am also looking for the way out of this problem

I take my B-12 shots every 2 weeks. I just got my PCP to increase them to twice a month from monthly. I can really tell the difference. Because of the holidays it has been 3 weeks since my last shot and I can really feel it. I don't sleep as well, don't feel as well. Will be getting my shot again tomorrow. Yeah!

But I would talk to your doc about how your feeling. Could be that because your Crohns is so out of control right now, that could be why your so fatigued. Call the doc, just to be sure. Good Luck!

Had an ileal resection in 05 and been on B12 once a month and have never noticed any difference to energy levels what soever. Still feel so exhausted all the time.
I was told by the neuro in London I could have more but can I. GP my primary care doc says that my levels of B's are always good even more than good but I am very, very exhausted All the time.
having a prob with muscle wasting due to premature depletion of a certain muscle enzyme which is leading to weakness and muscle wasting. the neuro pathologist told me to bumf up my Vit B's but I have noone has really talked to me about all this.
Folic acid has been suggested but not pressed on me. I dont take vitamins at all except fortified juices sporadically.
I wish the hell someone would help me deal with the nuitrition side of things. We dont have nuitritions here in Ireland or at least anyone recognised by the Health services.

I alos have vitamin deficits, d, b12, iron etc, I to take injections and pills to counteract this, I was told it would take about 3 months to feel better, its been 1 month now, some change but not much. :)

I a colon resection which they took my terminal ileum and I was taking b-12 shots for about 6 months, then I found sublingual b-12 which you put under your tongue everyday.  I have found that it works better and keeps your b-12 level more consintence.  I have been taking sublingual b-12 for about 7 years now.   Specialist checked my levels and they are fine.

Im taking B12 injections monthly as well and I don't feel any different. I can always tell when i'm low in iron, or when i have slacked off from taking my pills, but the B12 doesn't really do much for me.

I was told that one B12 injection lasts about 6 months, so I don't know that it should make that much difference, but I do know that everyone is different and reacts differently to each and every medicine.

Just a thought to everyone that does get a B12 injection...have you thought about giving them to yourself? My doctor taught me how to inject myself, so now I just do it. It really saves me alot of money and time. It was easy to learn. The hardest part for me is remembering every month.

I also give myself a B12 shot. Every 2 weeks with the humira shot, and it doesn't burn at all. I also have heard that SL is just as good as IM, even when you malabsorb, and the form my S/O takes is methylcobalomin as opposed to cyanocobalamin.
